That beautiful sound.

Hi!

Welcome to Chrisbobomb’s Hardcore Risette Fan guide! Here I will explain the strategy that I used to unlock the Hardcore Risette Fan trophy for Persona 4 Golden on the PlayStation Vita, and better yet, before you even get through the 5th dungeon! Included in this guide is an explanation of how I popped the trophy as well as a list (a whopping ~267) of Rises lines for you to mark off as you earn the trophy yourself! Let’s begin!

Special thanks go out to KADFC! KADFC created what many believe to be the definitive Hardcore Risette Fan guide, and while I wrote my guide based on my playthrough, I cannot say that my guide is not informed from the KADFC guide. It can be read in its entirety at the address below:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/vita/641695-persona-4-golden/faqs/65615

It is a very technical guide, and if you want to understand some of the math and magic behind the science of the Hardcore Risette Fan trophy, then I definitely recommend checking it out.

|-Section 3: FAQ
——————————————————————————–

1.
Q: There are plenty of other guides/forums/message boards/etc concerning the Hardcore Risette Fan trophy and the unlocking thereof. Why should I read your guide?

A: Simple! I have the platinum trophy and you(probably) don’t. No, but seriously, I have invested roughly 170 hours between 4 playthroughs, tested the theories of others, and have filtered out everything that I believe to be inaccurate and otherwise inconsequential!

2.
Q: Word on the block is that Hardcore Risette Fan is the hardest trophy to unlock in the game? Is it true?

A: True! Or false. I find that it depends on how you, as a gamer, walked in to the experience that is: Persona 4 Golden. I, for example, bought my brand new Vita and bought myself Persona 3 Portable. After putting 80 hours into that game and mastering the battle system I walked into Persona 4 Golden primed and ready to go. That being said, there was virtually no learning curve for me since I was so familiar with the games mechanics. Simply put, I already knew how to exploit weaknesses, I already knew how to manage my team and inventory, and I already knew how to fuse the optimal personas for the challenge at hand. I basically burned through the dungeons so fast that I barely heard any of Rises lines… 3 times… For somebody that has never played a Persona, or is generally unfamiliar with RPG’s, they would probably come across more lines than I would because they are spending more time learning the battle system and figuring things out.

3.
Q: Do lines from my first playthrough carry over to subsequent playthroughs?

A: Hmmmm, that’s a tough one. I have read on message boards that the trophy has popped so early for some players that it could only have been due to carry over from previous playthroughs. My personal experience leads me to believe that they do not though. My  trophy popped after roughly 267 lines, all from a single playthrough. Additionally, the trophy popped while I was in the Heaven dungeon, BEFORE all the extra boss/situational lines. That means that I farmed 267 lines before saving Nanako using only what is available in the game up until that point. In my previous playthroughs, I had already gotten ALL the extra boss/situational lines, but clearly that didn’t help my trophy pop any faster because I had to farm an additional 17 lines to unlock the trophy anyway.

4.
Q: So, which lines count towards the trophy?

A: This one can also be controversial, but I think I’ve got it under wraps. For my playthrough, I only took note of lines that were read off DURING BATTLE with BOTH TEXT and a CIRCULAR PICTURE OF RISE, as well as lines from OUTSIDE OF BATTLE with BOTH TEXT and a CIRCULAR PICTURE OF RISE(basically only when you find stairs/chests or when Rise is commenting on your health). That’s it. Lines that I don’t believe count towards the trophy are as follows: enemy scans without pic and text/ talking to Rise in dungeons via the square button/ lines that Rise says that have text in the bottom text box(the big rectangle at the bottom of the screen)/ or anything else whatsoever. Sorry guys. If those lines counted toward the trophy then I would have a total tally of lines well over 300 since I spoke with Rise during all of the circumstances that I had listed.

5.
Q: What about boss specific lines? Do those count?

A: The truth is, I didn’t encounter enough bosses using my strategy for it to matter very much. The only boss you’ll come across that has it’s own specific lines is the Teddie boss, and you WILL hear them because you’ll be so under leveled that you couldn’t possible defeat him fast enough to NOT hear them. As far as Reaper/Margaret/other bosses, I can’t say because I’ve never seen a trophy pop while looking at them in my previous 3 playthroughs.

——————————————————————————–
|-Section 4: Tips
——————————————————————————–

1: Before reading on, beat the game at least once! This allows you to enjoy the game without distraction, access the custom difficulty menu, and read this guide without anything being spoiled for you!

2. The Hardcore Risette Fan trophy deserves its own playthrough and I recommend that is exactly what you do. The more nonsense you try to juggle along side this, the more likely it is that you’ll slip up somewhere. Persona 4 Golden is a great game, so 3 playthroughs should be appropriate(1 regular, 1 for EVERY OTHER TROPHY, 1 Hardcore Risette Fan).

3. You NEED to be under leveled by the time you get to the Secret Laboratory! Rise has specific lines that she will only say when your level(and your teams levels) is in a certain relation to the enemy’s. Lower, Equal, Higher. Be patient.

4. DO NOT engage in Rise’s Social Link until I specifically say so! Just don’t do it! I cannot guarantee that you’ll still be able to get the trophy if you do! When Rise’s Social Link is 2 or higher she gains the ability to comment on the enemies weakness/immunities. This GREATLY decreases the likeliness that you’ll hear any of her other lines at the start of battle. Again, be patient. While you’re at it, just skip out on all optional Social Links until you’ve popped the trophy. Ranking up your friends Social Links gives them the ability to cure ailments inflicted on other members of your party, which makes farming status ailments more difficult than it needs to be.

5. When you come across an enemy with Debilitate/Ailment moves, STOP ATTACKING! Milk that enemy for everything they’re worth. Cast useless stat bonuses or use items, but do not attack that enemy until they have successfully inflicted the penalty/ailment to every member of your party. Not only will you get the lines for the status being inflicted, but you should also get a separate line repeated from that point onward until that party member is no longer inflicted. Also, DO NOT GUARD. This minimized or flat out negates that chance that a status ailment will be inflicted.

6. Analyze your enemies when you are expecting to hear a specific line. When you analyze then back out of analysis there is a chance that Rise will drop a line. If I know that Naoto is poisoned, but Rise hasn’t said a Naoto/Poisoned line, then I can repeat this process until I hear the line that I’m expecting.

7. Make sure to let enemies ambush you/ ambush them/ get ambushed my multiple groups of enemies/ etc. This adds a great amount of variety to the lines that Rise drops at the beginning of battle. Get most of these out of the way before ranking up Rise’s Social Link.

8. Whenever you feel like it, have the protagonist drop into a dungeon solo. I recommend keeping the settings to allow a minimal amount of Exp to be earned so you don’t make your teams lop sided. Dungeon diving solo allows for Rise to talk more outside of battle since there aren’t any other characters to talk over her.

9. Even though this guide stops at the Heaven dungeon, I do recommend being prepared to play the game all the way through on the complete True Ending path with the Margaret fight and Reaper boss. Those are easy ways to get some extra lines… if they actually count.

——————————————————————————–
|-Section 5: Guide
——————————————————————————–

Alright guys and gals, let’s get to the nitty gritty! How can you pop this trophy? Firstly, I recommend that you play the game at least once and enjoy it as it was intended to be. No rush. No pressure. AFTER you beat the game at least once, work your way through the game until you have access to proper triangle menu. Go down to ‘System’ and select ‘Change Difficulty’. From there, change the difficulty to as follows:

Damage Taken: Small
Damage Given: Great
Exp Earned: Less
Money Earned: More
Retries in Battle: Yes
Retries in Dungeon: Yes

Don’t forget to save it! From here, continue through the game as you normally would, ideally skipping as much combat as possible so keep you under leveled. DO NOT grind your level in your off time. Burn through each dungeon as quick as you can, skipping as many non mandatory battles as you can. Once you save Rise, stay out of the TV world until she properly joins your party. Now, with Rise as your new navigator, change your difficulty settings to this:

Damage Taken: Small
Damage Given: Small
Exp Earned: Less
Money Earned: More
Retries in Battle: Yes
Retries in Dungeon: Yes

Don’t forget to save it! Now the game begins! You may be asking yourself, “Why do I want to inflict LESS damage to enemies?!?” The answer is simple: you want battles to last as long as possible. Additionally you want to earn as little EXP as possible, so it might be a good idea to ESCAPE battles before you finish off the final enemy(at least for this first part of the guide). The next order of business is to establish your teams. I’m just going to tell you: Yosuke, Chie, and Yukiko are The A Team(queue music) and Kanji, Teddie, and Naoto are your B Team. Since you don’t have Naoto yet, stick to your A Team. Continue daily life until Naoto gets herself kidnapped and the Secret Laboratory is available for exploration. Here, your A Team should be SEVERELY under leveled. Don’t worry, that’s a good thing. Each character should be as close to their original level as possible. Now, start picking some fights. Don’t worry about winning since you can continue any lost battle an unlimited number of times! Just grind, Grind, GRIND! Using the checklist I have included with this guide(convenient huh?), continue this process until you have about 70 or so lines scratched off.

Before going for 70 through 100, temporarily switch the ‘Exp Earned’ from ‘Less’ to ‘More’ and grind until each of your main party members has learned their respective ’Ma’ skill(Magaru, Mabufu, Maragi). Once this has been achieved, switch ’Exp Earned’ back to ’Less’ and continue on. As for you, use whatever persona allows you to use those skills as well, but keep it low leveled. This allows you to farm lines for knocking down/defeating multiple enemies by exploiting their weaknesses. Also, make sure you get your stat penalty/ailment lines for your A Team because once you switch teams you really shouldn’t need to go back. Once you’re flirting with 100 lines continue on with the game and recruit Naoto into your party. Once Naoto is ready for battle, switch over to your B Team and go back to the Secret Laboratory. You’ll be using B Team for the final 150(or more) lines, so get used to each characters pros and cons. Now is your chance to get the last of your stat penalty/ailment lines so make sure you do. Grind another 80 lines(180 total, with a whole new team on the field Rise will be dropping lines left and right!) and adjust the difficulty to as follows:

Damage Taken: Small
Damage Given: Great
Exp Earned: More
Money Earned: More
Retries in Battle: Yes
Retries in Dungeon: Yes

Your goal now is simple: POWERLEVEL. You’re going to get all those lines that Rise only says when you’re equal to or above your enemies level. Get your player level to the mid forties in the Secret Laboratory and go back to Yukiko’s Castle. You might want to make two runs here: one as the protagonist by yourself and one with your B Team. After you’ve gotten another 20+ lines (you should have around 200 now), continue the game as usual until you have access to the Heaven dungeon. By this point, you want to start the Rise Social Link and you want it to be at Rank 2 of higher. Now, bring out your B Team and go to town in Heaven. Take care to defeat every enemy on every floor. And engage as many enemies as possible. Now that Rise’s Social Link has been ranked up a couple times, you should hear some sort of weakness/immunity line at the beginning of every battle. This can easily get you your remaining lines… and you’re still only in the Heaven dungeon! Isn’t that awesome? If you are still having difficulty unlocking the trophy, you still have plenty of lines to look forward to for the remainder of the game. Just look at whatever lines that you DON’T have crossed out and farm for them. I mean come on! I wrote down all the lines FOR you! Good luck and I hope my guide helped unlock the Hardcore Risette Fan trophy in Persona 4 Golden on the Playstation Vita!

——————————————————————————–
|-Section 6: Lines Index
——————————————————————————–

I hand wrote each of these lines myself as Rise dropped them, so I apologize if there are any grammatical errors or various errors of any kind. I did my best to accurately record each line and I believe that the lines as they were recorded are sufficient enough to assist you in unlocking the Hardcore Risette Fan Trophy. In the future I would like to alphabetize the lines in each category for quicker reference, but for the time being I am leaving them in the order that they were recorded.
